Preparing for ID06 in Sweden
Frequently asked questions
What is an ID06 card used for?
ID06 is a workplace identification and access system, used for example to record attendance in electronic personnel ledgers. Check the requirements with the company responsible for your workplace. The card does not replace a work permit or your tax and employer obligations.
Can a foreign company register with ID06?
Yes. ID06 has a registration route for foreign companies. We help prepare the business information and follow up the practical questions. ID06 reviews the registration; our involvement does not mean that we issue cards or decide whether an application is accepted.
Which company documents should we prepare?
Start by gathering your current company registration information and details of the owner, authorised signatory and company contact. Tell us what you have already submitted. We review the material with you and identify any further information needed for the particular registration.
How does the employee verify their identity?
The cardholder must complete ID06's identity checks personally. Current requirements include a valid passport or an accepted national ID card, with document scanning through the supported process. A copy sent to an adviser does not replace that check. We can explain the steps, but cannot identify ourselves on the employee's behalf.
Is a Swedish personal identity number always required?
The applicable documentation and card validity depend on the employee's circumstances. A verified coordination number or evidence of a Swedish Tax Agency application may be relevant. We review the situation before advising on the next step; there is no single document checklist or card validity period that applies to everyone.
Do we need an A1 certificate?
That depends on the employment and social insurance arrangements. Where ID06 requires an A1 certificate, or confirmation of an A1 application, it must relate to the correct employer. Different supporting information can apply where social security contributions are paid in Sweden. We help identify which route needs to be considered.
What if an employee is from outside the EU or EEA?
Additional residence and right-to-work documentation may be required. Requirements vary by the individual's status and employment arrangements; an ID06 card does not itself grant permission to work. Tell us about the situation so we can identify questions that need separate review.
Can you help if information is missing?
Yes. We can review a request for additional information with you, help organise the response and coordinate related Swedish registration questions. Please tell us which stage you have reached and share the request through an agreed channel. Avoid sending passport copies or other sensitive documents in an initial general enquiry.
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on the starting point, completeness of the information, required checks and decisions by ID06 or the authorities. We agree on our work with you and help keep track of outstanding actions. Contact us before the planned start of work rather than assuming that cards can be arranged immediately.
Can you also help with tax and accounting in Sweden?
Yes. Our tax consultants and accountants can help bring ID06 administration together with other parts of your Swedish operations, such as F-tax registration, employer questions, payroll and ongoing reporting. We agree on the services you need; applying for an ID06 card does not by itself settle those other matters.
